John Garren, drums, started playing in the seventh grade-beginning band and continued his enrollment through his high school years. During this time he performed in the formal settings of performing in concert, symphonic and marching bands. MORE>>>
After high school, John played in various rock groups both in the “garage” and in working professional situations. He began teaching on a part-time basis at Nice House of Music in the summer of 1991.
As his teaching workload increased during the first few years, John started taking classes at the local community college. In 2004, he graduated from the University of North Florida with a BA in Elementary Education.
While enrolled at UNF, John started putting his teaching methods into writing. In 2007, he completed and self-published these methods in his book titled Count to Four….Play the Drums.
John formed the original “metal” band NEW DAY in 2002. NEW DAY has self-released three discs since, and is presently working on composing material for a fourth disc. In addition, John recently re-joined the cover band Jimmy’s Hat, which will begin performing in January 2008.
