60 years of music to your ears.

In the mid-seventies Nice House of Music opened several new mall stores in St. Augustine, Palatka and Orlando giving us a total of 9 stores around Florida. In 1986, C. Carter, Bob and Jim made the decision to close their many mall stores and build a “superstore” in Orange Park. This was a wonderful 14,000 square-foot building with a massive showroom, a performance hall and 12 private lesson studios. Things were going very well until the organ market began to dwindle at the end of the 80’s. In 1990, the decision was made to break into the guitar and sound equipment market. Each year more and more equipment was added until Nice House of Music had become a full M.I. store with fewer pianos and organs being sold than ever before.

In 1996, Carter Nice decided to retire after 48 years in the business. The superstore was sold and a store was opened that would focus primarily on guitars, drums and P.A. systems, with just a few pianos. They also decided to shorten the name and dubbed the new business Nice Music, as we are known today.

Brothers Bob and Jim ran this new business until Jim’s untimely passing in 2002. Today, Bob is the sole owner of the store and we have over 6,000 sq. ft. of full M.I. gear showroom and teaching facilities with roughly 500 students a week. Many of our teachers have been with us for over 15 years. In addition to Bob, Darren Ronan and Ernie Ealum, who have both been with the store for about 15 years, run the store.

In 2008 we are celebrating our 60th year in business and we owe it all to, and would like to thank, all our wonderful customers through the years.

Continued....It was around this time the market for home organs with built-in rhythms took off. This new market allowed Nice House of Music to grow, and in 1968 we expanded into the new shopping malls at Regency Square and Roosevelt Mall in Jacksonville and Merritt Square Mall in Merritt Island, FL.

When C. Carter Nice’s youngest son, Jim Nice, joined the firm and began managing the Merritt Island store, Nice House of Music became the leading dealers in the country for Lowrey, Kimball and Hammond Organs.

This success in the States gave the Nice’s the idea to expand overseas and in 1972, Bob Nice took his wife and family and moved to Germany to sell organs to music dealers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. This lasted 2 years for Bob, and another year thereafter for his brother Jim. While not the booming business success they had hoped for, the many experiences they had were worth the investment.  MORE>>>>
